Broker / Seller Network

AST’s process of acquiring patents begins with a worldwide network of over 250 brokers, operating companies, law firms, academic institutions, individual inventors and other patent holders with patents for sale. We receive portfolios ranging from a single patent to thousands of patents and applications.

We are often asked by sellers and brokers – “What materials do you want?” The answer to this question is simple – we want all marketing materials that are being provided to other potential buyers. All technical and marketing materials that will help highlight the value of a portfolio are welcome. The higher the quality of the materials the better. They help to draw attention to the portfolio.

Many times sellers express concern about confidentiality of sensitive materials. AST respects these concerns, and enters into Non Disclosure Agreements when requested by sellers for supporting materials they wish to provide (though we rarely are asked to enter into a NDA with respect to a listing of the patents available for sale). AST’s NDA is very specific to the purpose of evaluating patents for potential purchase, and AST member companies abide by these terms. We welcome you to view our standard NDA agreement here.
